ReAct

A package of measures to support redundant workers, including:-

  • a training grant for redundant workers to replace outdated skills;
  • funding to remove barriers to training such as travel and accommodation costs;
  • a £2,000 wage subsidy for employers who recruit redundant workers plus grant support to enable training for these new workers.

ProAct Will allow companies to provide additional training for employees who would be put on short time working or made redundant – enables employers facing difficulties to retain skilled workers and enhance skills ready for the upturn. Help to set up a business

Part of the 6-month unemployment guarantee package. Advice on creating a business plan, plus funding for the first months of trading.

Doubling of funding to Rapid Response Teams` – £3m to £6m.

Rapid Response Service offered to every employer with 20 or more redundancies and in local communities who have been disproportionately affected by multiple smaller scale redundancies. It includes skills matching, help with jobsearch skills and access to training and re-skilling opportunities.

Basic Skills Pledge and Grants

Basic Skills Employer Pledge has been developed as part of the National Strategy to reduce the substantial number of adults in Wales with poor literacy and numeracy skills. It is intended for all private and public sector companies and organisations, whatever their size. Grants are available to Employers.
